Description
This text is a personal narrative of an actual event that was witnessed by a native of Santa María Ocotán in the 1970s. It serves as entertainment and as an example of a common experience in the Tepehuan culture. The transcription, which is a slightly edited version of the original narration, was made by the author, who also illustrated it with his own drawings. It was later made into a story book for beginning readers.
The form of presentation is called “glossed text,” because it includes both literal translations of every word and morpheme and free translations of every sentence. The free translations are summarized in paragraph form at the end.
