Diseñado como un libro de texto,
este trabajo provee una introducción,
paso a paso y motivada por datos,
a los principios mas importantes
de la teoría de Rección y Ligamiento de la sintaxis
como fue desarollada por Noam Chomsky.
Un bosquejo de la teoría va seguida por
secciones sobre la subcategorización,
la teoría de la X' (X-barra), el movimiento y las trazas,
roles semánticos, la teoría del caso y la teoría del ligamiento.
Varias adiciones propuestas por otros lingüistas,
por ejemplo, la hipótesis de la frase determinante (FD/SD)
y la estructura partida de Flexión (Flex/Infl),
se cubren en la sección final.
Los datos se toman principalmente del inglés,
pero también del abaza, chichewa, esquimal, francés, hixkaryana,
mohawk, tiwa, tzotzil, urubú y zapoteco.

Description:
Designed for use as a textbook, this paper provides a data-motivated,
step-by-step introduction to the main tenets of the Government and Binding theory
of syntax as developed by Noam Chomsky. An overview of the theory is
followed by sections on subcategorization, X-bar theory, movement and traces, semantic
roles, case theory, and binding theory. A number of the more recent additions
proposed by other linguists, such as the DP hypothesis and the split structure
for Infl, are covered in the final section. The data used is primarily English,
but also includes Abaza, Chichewa, Eskimo, French, Hixkaryana, Mohawk,
Tiwa, Tzotzil, Urubú, and Zapotec.
