period (.): also called "dot" or "full stop".
period (.) [1]: a symbol used to separate syllables. For example, the word "recapture" can be represented, divided into syllables, as "re.cap.ture". [Spanish: punto final [1]]
period (.) [2]: a symbol used to join a group of words into one unit, especially when a phrase is needed in one language to gloss a single word in another. This use of the period is especially common in interlinear glosses. For example, the word "hapah" in Seri can be glossed 'that.is.called'. [Spanish: punto final [2]]
