Sociocultural awareness can be improved with appropriate use of technologies. Below are two products that are available to the public.

• The FLEx Data Notebook is a software tool for collecting, managing and reviewing qualitative data such as observations and interviews. The Data Notebook is part of SIL’s premiere language program FieldWorks Language Explorer (FLEx).

• SILKin is a software package designed to help collect and analyze kinship terminologies. This tool uses machine-learning technology to help researchers investigate kinship systems and genealogies. Download the software at Google/code.
