Features
FieldWorks Language Explorer is the lexical and text tools component of SIL FieldWorks. It can be used to record lexical information and develop dictionaries. Support for the collection of words by semantic domain (as recommended in the Dictionary Development Process) is built into the tool. Language Explorer also provides a text corpus with the built-in capability to interlinearize text and optional, automated morphological parsing. There is a simple concordance of wordforms in the texts.
The Grammar tools allow the user to capture grammatical information. This information is used by the morphological parser, which provides the user with a way to check the grammatical rules they have recorded against real language data. The grammar information can also be compiled in an automatically generated grammar sketch.
