The Linguist's Shoebox
Integrated data management and analysis for the field linguist
Tip
Jump paths describe relationships in the data.
In Shoebox, jumping displays a related database record. Because there are many different kinds of relationships in language and culture data, you can set up multiple jump paths in the database types. Each jump path defines source fields and destination databases and fields. When you right-click a source field, Shoebox searches for records that contain matching destination fields. Here are some useful jump paths:
| Source | Destination |
|---|---|
| category fields (in anthropology notes databases) | anthropology analysis topic records |
| cross-reference fields (in anthropology notes databases) | anthropology notes observation records |
| words and morphemes (in interlinear text databases) | lexical database records |
