The Linguist's Shoebox
Integrated data management and analysis for the field linguist
Tip
Shoebox provides a basic database type for text files.
It is important to set up the structure of text databases so that Shoebox features work together: breaking and numbering text, exporting, importing, interlinearizing, jumping, making word lists and concordances. Customizing an existing database type reduces the risk of conflicting settings. The Shoebox Setup/Installer program copies Text.typ to the user settings folder. It helps you take a good first step toward effectively using Shoebox to integrate your text and lexical databases. For more information related to text files,
- in the Shoebox Tutorial, read the chapters about Shoebox settings files and Interlinear text;
- in Shoebox Help, search for Break and Number Text.
