Toolbox Plans
Proposed enhancements to Toolbox
We make no commitment to complete any of the following. Tentative completion dates are approximate only, and are not commitments.
- Enhancements to MDF (Multi-Dictionary Formatter). These enhancements will make it easier to handle dictionaries with multiple scripts and will make the formatting system more powerful and easier to customize. (In process, tentative completion 2008.)
- Mac version. This is turning out to be more difficult than expected and will take at least through 2008. It may not be worth the effort because many Mac users report that they are successfully running Windows Toolbox under Parallels. An alpha test of Toolbox for Mac is available for download. Further progress will depend on feedback from users about their need for a native Mac version.
- Linux version. The process being used to make a Mac version should also be able to produce a Linux version. However, as mentioned above, there is some question about the need for a native Mac version. Many Linux users are successfully running Toolbox under Wine. So further work will depend on feedback from users about their need for a native Linux version.
Please let us know of other enhancements that would help you.
