The Language Learning Bookshelf of LinguaLinks Library includes a wealth of information on how to learn languages.   Version 5.0 was the last collection released in 2003.   Newer content is being developed and distributed in new formats.  Continue to check SIL Publications under the Language and Culture Learning domain.

ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines 2012
This set of graded descriptions of language abilities developed by the American Council of Teaching of Foreign Languages is widely used for language assessment.  It can also be used for setting learning goals. Recent additions include videos of learners at different proficiency levels in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning Teaching, Assessment (CEFR)
This set of graded descriptions of language proficiency is widely used in Europe and is available in many languages of the European Union.

Language Study Abroad
This site provides information and reviews on thousands of language schools and other study abroad options.

The Peace Corps Culture Matters Workbook
This workbook was developed as a training manual for new Peace Corps volunteers.  It helps cross-cultural workers identify ways in which cultural values differ and how these differences can affect communication.
