Training

SIL offers specialized and accredited training for people who wish to work in language assessment, either with SIL or through another organization. SIL fieldworkers, as members of the organization, must meet certain qualifications and complete specific training. The minimum pre-field academic requirements for an entry level language assessment position are:

• Introduction to Phonetics
• Introduction to Phonology
• Language and Society
• Introduction to Ethnography
• Second Language and Culture Learning
• Principles of Language Survey
