International Literacy Day: Dictionaries in Vanuatu and literacy materials in the Solomon Islands (September 2010) In recognition of UNESCO-designated International Literacy Day, 8 September, SIL participated in celebrations in Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. SIL Vanuatu and the University of the South Pacific (USP) held a dictionary-making workshop on 9 September at the USP Port Vila campus. Led by SIL Director Ross Webb, 17 participants learned to use the WeSay computer program. Lexique Pro dictionary software update (April 2010) SIL’s Lexique Pro software is an interactive lexicon viewer and editor, designed to display data in a user-friendly format for distribution to others. FLEx version 3.0 unveiled for eLexicography conference (October 2009) SIL FieldWorks Language Explorer (FLEx) was released this month in version 3.0. FLEx is part of the SIL FieldWorks software suite that helps researchers to manage language and culture data from the initial collection stage to the publication of dictionaries, text collections and grammars.
