Preparing a silk-screen printer for printing on fabric

Introduction

Before printing anything, you must prepare the silk-screen printer and properly attach the stencil. The procedure may vary somewhat, depending on the kind of printer you use.

See:

How to print on fabric with a silk-screen printer or T-shirt printing demonstration for all the steps involved in printing on fabric.

Steps
Follow these steps to prepare a silk-screen printer for printing on fabric:

  1. If there are hinges on the printer, remove them.
    Tip:

The screen is easier to manipulate without them.

  2. Place the screen frame face down.
  3. Lay the stencil face down on the side of the screen facing up.
  4. Tape the stencil onto the frame. Tape all around the edges to prevent the ink from leaking.
