Determined goals for Peru's bilingual education schools and evaluated expectations for local children. Results indicated the need for a slower program than that of the national school--not because of IQ differences but because of language and cultural factors. Important conclusion was that these programs need special care within the national school system. | |

In 1978, the Minister of Education appointed a high-level commission to reestablish a central office. The plan had not yet been put into effect in 1994. Encouraging result of the pre-1972 program was the continuous academic progress of the teachers and their students who were trained during those early years. | |
