Kent 1990

Reference

Kent, Carolyn E. 1990. "Predictable books for preliterate peoples." Notes on Literacy. Interest level: general.

Summary

Webster says to predict means "to declare in advance, to foretell on the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason." Predictable books are written so readers can foretell both what the author is going to say and how it will be said.

Kenneth Goodman (1967:127) refers to prediction as "the ability to anticipate."
