Summary
 

Briefly describes the orthographies of India and lists some of the problems of establishing a practical orthography. Describes tendency to use script of dominant language for minority languages. Active mother tongue language groups often identify their ethnic origins with local language scripts and sometimes reject dominant orthography. Others believe scripts should be unified for political strength.

Evaluation
 

Is concise and insightful. Does not give new information but spells out alphabet situation in India.
