What is compartmentalization?

To compartmentalize is to divide into separate groups, boxes, clusters, or compartments.

In education, compartmentalization refers to the practice or process of teaching or learning. Concepts, ideas, or other materials are taught or learned with little or no regard for its relationship to anything else the student knows.
