Use this category to record information about how members of a cultural community think and feel about music.

Here are some questions to help you explore attitudes in your community:

1. What is the attitude of members of the culture to each music system? How is this shown?
2. What is the attitude of the young people to the local music?
3. What is the position of the local leaders (both musical and social) toward the use of local music as well as other music systems?

4. How stable is the music situation?

   • Are changes in the music system itself occurring?
   • Are new instruments being incorporated into the musical life of the culture?
   • Are attitudes toward local music changing?
