You can use various kinds of ink or paint to print with a silk-screen printer. The kind you choose depends on

 
  • the material to be printed on, and
  • the kind of stencil you use

Here are some guidelines to follow when you decide what ink or paint to use with a silk-screen printer:

 

If you want to print...

Then use...

Typed-size letters on paper

Mimeograph ink.

Larger letters or a design on paper

  • Mimeograph ink, or
  • Poster paint.

Larger letters or a design on a poster

Poster paint.

A design or large letters on fabric

Textile ink or paint.
