How to make a word map

Introduction

A word map is easily made with nothing more than paper and pen.

Steps
Here are the steps to follow to make a word map:

  1. Choose, or have the writer choose, a word or a phrase as a topic to write about.
  2. Write the topic in a circle or rectangle in the center of a page.
  3. Complete the map by
    • asking the learner what words they think of related to the topic.
    • writing the words on the page around the topic.
Variations

Here are some variations for making a word map:

  • Help the learner do steps 1-3.
  • Have the learner do steps 1-3 independently.
