Preparing to print literacy materials

To be ready print literacy materials as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible, you need to do some preliminary planning and work.

• Find out what printing equipment is available.
• Consider having a print shop print the materials.
• Determine what materials you need.
• Find out what form your original materials must be in.
• Estimate how much a particular printing job will cost.
• Estimate how much time it will take to do the job or to have it done.
• Choose a printing method appropriate to the situation.
• Learn how the equipment works (if you will use it yourself).
• Prepare camera-ready copies, mock-ups, or layout plans of the materials as necessary..
