A Multistrategy instructional program primer track lesson teaches reading and writing using a technical approach through analysis and synthesis of words and sentences.

 

It focuses on teaching words, syllables, and eye, ear, and hand skills.

Here are the parts of a typical Multistrategy primer track lesson (p. 56) :

 
  • Reading readiness activities
  • Analysis and synthesis of a keyword in the context of a sentence or text, and a picture
  • Learning syllables and word building
  • Practicing reading sentences with focus on syntax
  • Accurate writing
  • Reading and writing fluency activities in open classes and bridging classes

  • Emphasizes systematic, controlled instruction to help learners

    • become aware of the relationship between sounds and their symbols through reading and writing syllables, words, and sentences in context, and
