The Multistrategy story track lesson

This module is based on the revision of the book Working together for literacy by Mary Stringer. Because this book is an external document, each link to it opens a file using the Acrobat Reader program and displays the first page of the book. A Multistrategy instructional program story track lesson teaches reading and writing using a holistic global approach to reading through texts and stories. It focuses on teaching comprehension, , fluency, and expression.

Here are the parts of a typical Multistrategy story track lesson (p. 22) :

• Creating and reading group language experience stories
• Listening to a text being read with focus on comprehension
• Individual (silent) reading and reading with the teacher
• Shared book reading
• Creative writing

Here are some features of a Multistrategy story track lesson (p. 22) :

• Emphasizes holistic activities based on the weekly theme with meaningful words and texts to help learners read and write with understanding
• Does not include specific reading readiness activities but assumes the concepts will be learned automatically
