Using teaching aids

by Trudy K. Stewart (compiler)

Introduction

Teaching aids are helpful tools for teaching in a classroom or with individual learners. Teachers can use them to

  • help learners improve reading and other skills
  • illustrate or reinforce a skill, fact, or idea, and
  • relieve anxiety, fears, or boredom, since many teaching aids are like games.
Steps
Follow these steps to use teaching aids:

  1. Find or make suitable teaching aids.
  2. Experiment and practice with them so that you know how to use them.
  3. Test them and revise them if necessary.
  4. Remember to use them whenever they are appropriate.
