Costing preparatory work

Introduction
	This module will help you estimate costs for doing the preparatory work needed for your literacy program.
	If lots of preparatory work was done in designing your program, costs for your funding budget may be minimal.

Things to do
	Here are things to do when you cost preparatory work:
	Estimate costs for survey trips. Estimate costs for linguistic research and language development work. Estimate costs for mobilization activities.

Hints and suggestions
	Given problems of difficult access, poor communication, and community inertia, preparatory costs tend to be more than estimated. It is recommended that you add 25 percent to your basic estimate to allow for these factors.
