Summary

Proponents of bilingual education must emphasize such factors as psychological and social indicators in their methodology. Factors will help to justify the continuation of bilingual education in the present political context. Believes the most significant contribution of Paulston's book is to force readers to question the values underlying the goals of bilingual education. Paulston suggests a theoretical foundation for a feature analysis of bilingual education. Analysis may be critical as limited funds press bilingual education proponents to the bargaining table. Paulston advocates that people identify and prioritize the most successful features of bilingual education before bargaining away any of its components.
