Description
 

With a struck idiophone, the sound is produced when a vibrating component is struck by a beater such as a stick or hammer. The vibrating component is a solid body such as a disc, board, bar or beam. It may be made of wood, stone, gourd, bamboo, or metal.

 
Examples:

Gongs, xylophones, slit drums, steel drums, struck bells, lithophones (stones struck with other stones), metallopones
