    To represent in writing many of the words you can read if the writing system is regular and uses an alphabet. Concentrate especially on items of practical survival value, such as information you have to fill out on forms.

    When you travel around the neighborhood, jot down the names of every kind of animal you see, or every color you see represented.

  • Write down the names of as many words as you can think of that fall into categories such as food, furniture, professions, names of people, etc. Ask a language associate to correct your spelling.
