Developing spelling skills

Spelling activities are activities where learners learn to use accurate conventional spelling, especially while writing.

Spelling activities are designed to help learners recognize

• the sequence of letters that compose a word, and
• sound-sequence relationships.

• Use recorded spelling.
• Have a spelling bee.
• Use a cloze procedure.
• Teach phonics through writing lessons.

• Using inventive spelling
• How to use a cloze procedure for reviewing spelling
