Fabric for silk-screen

Choose fabric for the silk-screen carefully.

  • It should

    • be fairly tightly woven but loosely woven enough so that ink can pass through it
    • be strong so that it will not tear easily
    • not stretch much
    • have a plain weave, and
    • have no printed design or pattern.
  • There are several kinds of fabric that will work:

    • nylon
    • terylene (polyester) curtain
    • silk
    • silk-like fabric such as parachute silk or scarves
  • Test different kinds of fabric before you buy a lot of any one type.
