Description
 

A typical lesson in the Literacy and social awareness instructional program includes introducing a new letter through photos and core words. The letters are practiced in syllable drills by reading short sentences. The writing part of the lesson reinforces what is learned during the reading part.

  • Core words are broken into syllables.
  • Vowels are isolated.
  • New syllables are built.
  • Short sentences are read.
  • Sample of writing reinforces primer reading.
  • New letter is written.
  • Syllables are written and joined into words.
  • Punctuation and capitalization are gradually introduced.
  • Numeracy instruction is included as needed.
