Criteria for selecting administrators

 

Introduction
 

In addition to general criteria listed in Criteria for selecting literacy personnel, there are specific criteria that may be considered for selecting administrators. The list is intended to provide ideas rather than be an exhaustive. All criteria should reflect local needs, resources, cultures, and decisions.

Criteria
 

Here are some criteria for administrators. Select administrators who meet the following:

 
  • Are interested in maintaining the traditional language and culture
  • Are interested in promoting development of the community
  • Communicate well and facilitate communication among other people
  • Demonstrate abilities to work with a team, building consensus and team spirit
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and aptitudes
  • Have and are able to articulate a vision for the project and what it can do for the community
  • Have had experience or training in

    • adult education
    • community development, or
    • program management.
