Criteria for selecting literacy materials developers

Introduction

In addition to general criteria listed in Criteria for selecting literacy personnel, there are specific criteria that may be considered for selecting literacy materials developers. The list is intended to provide ideas, rather than be exhaustive. All criteria should reflect local needs, resources, cultures, and decisions.

Criteria

Here are some criteria for literacy materials developers. Select materials developers who meet the following:

  • Are recognized in the community as good storytellers or good interpreters of community life and events
  • Are able to work well independently and see a project through to completion
  • Demonstrate ability to draw or select illustrations recognized and easily understood by the community (illustrators)
  • Demonstrate project management and team player skills
  • Have clear and readable handwriting or be able to type (writers, editors)
