Typically, a program that has external funding will also require some internal funding.

Steps

  1. Review The pros and cons of external funding .
  2. Consult with everyone concerned.

    This may include

    • community leaders
    • regional and national officials
    • officials and leaders from your agency, and
    • other affected agencies.
  3. Review the key questions in: Factors for deciding on a source of funding for a literacy program
  4. If the factors in your program indicate the need for external funding, consult with an experienced person on the work and the responsibilities entailed in having external funding.
  5. Make the final decision in consultation with all appropriate parties.
