External funding

 

Introduction
 

The most common sources of funding for a literacy program are external agencies and, in general, funding committed by external agencies is reliable.

 

There are, however, complications caused by external funding.

Here are some different sources for external funding of literacy programs:

 
  • Government agencies at the national and international level
  • Non-governmental development agencies
  • Philanthropic donors such as

    • churches
    • foundations, and
    • service organizations
  • Businesses providing

    • grants, and
    • money from their regular budgets
