Background issues in literacy

by Stephen L. Walter

Introduction

These modules introduce conceptual and theoretical issues that provide important background for the theory and practice of literacy.

An understanding of these issues will help you be effective in your literacy work.

Discussion

Because situations are unique, it is not possible to say that any one of the issues discussed here is more important than another.

The information provided here is not exhaustive. If any of these issues is critical in your situation, you should consult other materials for needed scope and details.
