Modeling reading and writing

 

Introduction
 

One of the best ways to communicate what reading and writing are all about is by demonstrating, or modeling, the use of printed materials. This is especially effective when the model explains what he or she is doing and why.

Objectives
 

Here are some objectives of modeling reading and writing:

 
  • To expose people to reading and writing
  • To encourage people to try to read and write
  • To model using printed materials
  • To help them understand the nature of reading and writing
  • To help them understand the functions and uses of print
