Networking at the local level

Introduction

Local level networking takes place within the community, but includes contact with institutions which are staffed by nonspeakers of the language. These institutions must be included in networking efforts, since they are also concerned with the needs of the community.

Examples:
  • Schools
  • Churches
  • Government agencies
Objectives

Here is an objective of local level networking:

  • To engage the participation of local people and institutions who are in a position

    • to make use of literacy, or
    • to support the program in some way
Things to do
Here is one thing to do when you are networking at the local level:

  • Make contacts with any individuals or groups in the community that might have an interest in a local language program.
