The International Literacy Coordinator

 

Introduction
 

To be the corporate point-person for literacy, SIL has established the position of International Literacy Coordinator in the SIL International Administration. The International Literacy Coordinator is a part of the Academic Affairs section reporting to the Vice-President for Academic Affairs.

Legislative statement
 

Here is an excerpt describing the position of International Literacy Coordinator:

 

The Corporation Literacy Department is headed by the Literacy Coordinator. In general, the Literacy Coordinator is responsible for the following activities: 1. Supervise Corporation literacy consultants. 2. With the area directors arrange for literacy consultants to visit and conduct workshops in the branches. 3. Plan and help carry out the training of Corporation literacy consultants. 4. Be involved in setting standards of excellence in literacy work. 5. Be involved in providing information and literacy helps to workers. 6. Seek and recommend to branches sources of funds for publishing literacy materials, as well as outlets for theoretical and practical articles in literacy. 7. Make recommendations to branches regarding individual members to be selected for advanced literacy study. 8. Do anything necessary to stimulate, encourage and improve the literacy program in the Corporation. (1967)
