Summary

Discusses these two basic types of evaluation:

  • Process evaluation is best viewed as the ongoing monitoring, assessment, research, and experimentation. Purpose is to discover problems and to improve the program as required, while still underway.
  • Impact evaluation is designed to ascertain what the project accomplished.

Suggests questions concerning literacy, role of the evaluator, qualifications of instructors, and availability of materials. Offers guidelines for project manager during the project and on completion of the project. Emphasizes importance of measuring learner motivation and continuing interest, and suggests the need for an outside evaluator.
