Donwa-Ifode 1990

Summary

Reviews the sound system, nasals, and nasalization as they affect the representation of nasal vowels. In handling vowel sequences, elicits evidence from related languages to show they result from the loss of intervening consonants. The number of vowels ranges from two to five across morpheme boundaries. With evidence from this and other languages, examines the implications of such a transitional phonology for orthographic conventions.
