Summary

Philosophical book criticizes standard ideas of education as domestication and a mere transference of knowledge. Advocates liberation theology and proposes a liberating type of education. New type of education teaches people

  • to think
  • to criticize
  • to question the knowledge of the teacher
  • to question government and to rise up as a group, and
  • to become liberated rather than domesticated.
Evaluation

Approach is philosophical in nature and does not explain outworkings of liberation theology. Language is complex in nature and difficult to follow so do not recommend as resource.
