| Summary | |
|
Describes a literacy project among the Subanon people of the Philippines. Utilized the tape recorder to increase the reading fluency of people who had had only sporadic exposure to formal schooling. Lessons consisted of a lesson tape and booklet. Trained a coteacher to assist with the recorder and reinforce instructions. Provided much reading practice, both with the narrator and without the tape. Though memorization occurred, specific task activities kept students focused on the text. | |
