Summary

Compiles current research and author's experience in developing literacy programs. Results indicate substantial cultural differences in the perception and processing of sensory input. One of the keys to successful instructional design for adult literacy is to identify the learner's preferred cognitive and communicative strategies.

Develops methodologies that then make maximum use of these strategies. Gives means to determine these strategies.
