Summary

Fowler writes from an artist's perspective. Gives 12 valuable points to consider in creating illustrations that will be effective and accurate in primers. States that preliterate or inexperienced viewers will receive a deeper impression from artwork than experienced art viewers will receive.

Evaluation

Gives valuable information for artists attempting to illustrate for people unaccustomed to printed matter. Notes culturally significant points. Is very good and quite complete. Is a summary, however, so it will be more beneficial to read the whole article.
