Thousands of jungle Indians have become literate because of the Peru's bilingual school system. Significant result of program was improved morale as the people realized they had Peruvian citizenship. Are part of the population recognized by their government. Their language and culture are an accepted means of written communication. Peruvian government's unique and progressive effort to extend a rightful place to these once-neglected people is gradually bearing fruit in some of the country's most isolated areas.
