Summary
	Held initial discussions about beginning a literacy program with some local village leaders and mission personnel. With their encouragement, discussions were held at the provincial and village level.
	Received permission for the program to proceed from the Senior Education Officer of Malaita Province (Solomon Islands). Also received permission from the Education Director of the Seventh Day Adventist Mission and from several headmasters who supervise schools in Lau speaking communities. Village programs commenced only after permission was granted from village leaders.
