Pike, Patricia L. 1984a. "Cognitive styles research applied to cross-cultural teaching." Notes on Literacy.

Summary

Research in cognition indicates there are various styles of responding to cognitive tasks. Research also indicates that cognitive style may influence the efficacy of different learning or teaching situations. When the teacher (or the designer of teaching materials) and the students are of different cultures, there is high risk of style difference. Thus, research findings are of particular interest in cross-cultural teaching settings. Reviews some research in cognitive styles and investigates its applicability to the cross-cultural teaching situation.
