Poulter 1991

Reference

Poulter, Todd. 1991. "Development of a written style among newly literate people." Notes on Literacy.

Summary

Takes a practical look at the development of a written style from an oral style. Includes questions on the following points: audience, grammar, editing, text comparison, speech patterns, phonology, loan words, conversation, and format. Hopes that some questions may be useful in languages where mother-tongue authors begin to write. Also hopes to formulate a more productive list of questions as more research is done in this area.
