Evaluation

Deals with bilingualism, particularly as it relates to migrants and mother tongue minorities. Writes convincingly about the emotional power of the mother tongue. Passionately describes social injustices and linguistic oppression suffered by immigrants and other mother tongue language groups. Looks seriously at varied means of improving education. Aims to strengthen the mother tongue and cultural identity of children as well as to develop competence and confidence in a second language.
