Unseth and Unseth 1991

Reference

Unseth, Peter, and Carole Unseth. 1991. "Analyzing ambiguity in orthographies." Notes on Literacy. Interest level: general.

Summary

Describes ways to analyze ambiguity, but does not directly address the problems created by ambiguity in orthography. Vastly differing opinions occur on how much ambiguity orthography can and should have, though it is unlikely there is one standard answer to all situations. Authors did not involve themselves in debate. Contributed by providing concepts to allow for a more precise, informed discussion and judgment on such matters.
